Where can I find my sales data?

If you are wondering where to access crucial insights into your book sales performance, the answer lies in the Sales Analytics section of your PublishDrive dashboard. To access it, simply navigate to the Sales Analytics option, located in the left-hand side menu of your main PublishDrive dashboard.

In this article, we'll provide a comprehensive description of the Sales Analytics page, ensuring you can easily find and manage your sales data. Whether you're tracking general book sales or keeping an eye on preorder performance, this guide will help you uncover the insights you need to make informed decisions.

Does the Sales Analytics page provide real-time sales insights?

Yes, we receive live sales statistics from certain distributors, including Amazon, Amazon Print, Apple Books, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Libby, and Google Play Books, which we display for you here. Sales data for other stores will be incorporated into your charts as soon as we receive their official sales reports, which may be on a monthly or quarterly basis, depending on the store's reporting schedule. For instance, in the case of Scribd, Bookmate, 24symbols, Gardners, Mackin, Odilo, Hoopla, Dreame, Tolino, and Storytel, your sales data will typically be added by the 15th of each month following the month in which your sales occurred.

It's important to note that live sales data can be subject to changes and temporary lags. Payments are processed in accordance with the earnings reports compiled by the end of the month following the sale, which you can access under the 'Royalty payments' menu. While the Sales Analytics page primarily serves informative purposes and helps you keep track of your sales, it's essential to understand that it isn't the sole basis for our payouts.

Please be aware that live sales data is not instantaneous; we can only update your information once we receive sales reports from the respective stores. Typically, this process takes approximately 2-3 days, so we kindly ask for your understanding regarding this slight delay.

Navigation Options

There are two primary sections available for your viewing, which can be easily accessed from the top header:

  • Sales: This page allows you to track your general book sales.
  • Preorder: You can monitor your preorder book sales on this dedicated page.

Sales tab

You can conveniently view your sales performance by applying various filters to suit your preferences. The default view is set to the last 7 days, and modifying the filters will refresh the entire page. These filters include:

  • Date range: A date range must always be selected, and we'll prompt you if this is required.
  • Sales type: Choose between paid or free sales.
  • Books: Filter by specific books.
  • Series: This option is hidden if there are no relevant series.
  • Countries: Filter by countries.
  • Stores: Select specific stores.
  • Book formats: Filter by ebook, audiobook, or print book formats.

Please note that certain filters may be unavailable if there's no relevant data, indicated by being greyed out.

Key points

After selecting your date range and filters, we'll provide you with your top four key performance indicators at the top of the page: total copies sold, refunded copies, estimated earnings, and free downloads.

Charts via two main views

You can view your sales performance through two main perspectives:

    1. By copies sold: The default view, which displays the main value, grouped by stores on a daily basis. You can also switch to weekly or monthly views, group by series, or view only your copies sold without grouping by any specific criterion.

    2. By estimated earnings: This view is similar to "By copies sold" but focuses on estimated earnings.

Bestselling titles

Further down the page, you can view your top titles and series, if applicable.

Observe your sales performance by country.

Preorder tab

The Preorder tab shares similarities with the Sales tab but provides specific information related to your preorder performance.

Please note that estimated earnings are not displayed here, as this information can change based on final sales and other circumstances. For instance, certain stores may not report any earnings for preorders or there may be cancellations from customers.
